Checklist:

  • The Assam State Archives provide their holdings for consultation by both Indian and foreign scholars.
  • Scholars must attach a letter of recommendation from the University/ Institutions/ Department for issuing of permission.
  • Foreign Scholars must bring a letter of accrediation from the diplomatic representatives of their country in India as well.
  • Scholars must deposit a copy of their work based on te materials consulted after the publication.
  • Application form must be filled up and submitted to the Assam State Archives for permission to consult their records.
  • These records can be consulted free of cost.

Overview:

Both Indian and foreign scholars are allowed to consult the Assam State Archives for their reserach work. They will have to provide with all the documents required and deposit a copy of each of their work based on materials consulted from the Assam State Archives after the publication.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Scholars are requested to attach a letter of recommendation from the University/ Institutions/ Department for issuing of permission.
  • Foreign Scholars are requested to bring a letter of accrediation from the diplomatic representatives of their country in India as well.
  • A copy of each work based on materials consulted at the Assam State Archives immediately after the publication

Guidelines for filling the form:

Scholars have to provide with the required documents.

Fees:

Scholars can consult records free of cost.

For photocopies:

Students: Rs. 1/-
Indian Scholars: Rs. 2/-
Foreign Scholars: Rs. 4/-

Important Timeline:

Timing: 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Working Days: Every working day except sunday, second and fourth Saturday and notified government holiday.
